About us

History of the university

“Northern State Medical University” was established in 1932, and in 1937 the first doctor graduated from the university. Hence, NSMU has outnumbered the number of students graduating from any university in Russia. This university has undergone a long process of development to create a high end education program university. Since its existence the university has grown into a large medical university for the students and their medical study.
“Northern State Medical University” is a university path on the development and is following ambitious plans to develop the standard of education similar with international levels. Meanwhile, special attention is given to the fundamental principles of Russian education and healthcare, such as working for the elevation of quality, efficiency, and innovative development.
The university is working to move forward, as Russia’s integration into the global community requires that all vital sectors, including medicine and medical science, meet world-class standards.
